MUSIC PRODUCER TEN Walls has been dropped from the line-up of several music festivals this summer after homophobic comments he made went viral.

The Lithuanian producer achieved a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom with the song Walking With Elephants in 2014 and was scheduled to play at several festivals this summer.

In fact, he performed at Life Festival in Belvedere House just last week.

Last week, however, the producer took to his Facebook to make a series of homophobic comments that were subsequently distributed across social media and by publications like Gay Star News.

In the rant, the producer explained his intolerance for homosexuality in rather crude terms.

I remember producing music for one Lithuanian musician, who tried to wash my brain that I don’t need to be so conservative and intolerant about them. When I asked him ‘what would you do if you realised that your 16-year-old son’s browny (anus) is ripped by his boyfriend?’ Well he was silent.

Before then making reference to his first visit to Ireland and likening paedophilia to homosexuality.

One of my first gigs in Ireland, on my way to [my] hotel I saw a church with a fence decorated with hundreds of baby shoes. Naturally I wondered why? Unfortunately a priest’s lie for many years was uncovered when children were massively raped. Unfortunately the people of other breed continue to do it and everyone knows it but does nothing.

Naturally enough, the post attracted a lot of criticism on Twitter.

His comments were further condemned by other dance artists, including Tourist and Maya Jane Coles.

Following the furore, several music festivals, including Sonar and Creamfields, pulled the musician from the line-up.

This afternoon, Ten Walls released a statement apologising for his “unacceptable” comments and stated that he had cancelled all his scheduled gigs for the foreseeable future.
